Why is the core directory free?

Family directories work best when everyone participates. If aunts, uncles, and cousins had to pay or hit arbitrary member limits, directories would fail. We sustain Kivalio through single on-demand event passes ($19.99) when families organize major milestone events.

Do invited family members ever have to pay?

Never. Every family member, contributor, and branch coordinator can view records, claim their profile, and update their information completely free. There are no per-seat fees.

How do event passes work?

Starting Winter 2026, when you host a reunion or wedding, you can purchase an on-demand $19.99 Event Pass. It gives you coordination tools, seating charts, and RSVP tracking for that specific event. There are no monthly charges or automatic renewals.

Can I export my family's data?

Yes. You can export mailing lists to Avery labels or Excel anytime, as well as full JSON backups. Your data belongs to you.
